What is remote computer support?
Remote PC support allows us to view your computer screen and fix most computer and network problems right through the Internet via a secure remote control session. Our remote support works through 'desktop sharing' technology. When you contact us and we have determined the type of service needed we will direct you to our payment page. After payment has been made you will receive a secure website address and a key. This key will allow our technician to connect directly to your PC and resolve your issues.

How long does an average support session last?
On average the remote session lasts anywhere from 45-90 minutes depending on the type of problems you're experiencing. However, a session may be shorter or much longer. Your internet connection will also determine the length of a session. Most broadband connections are fast enough to allow for a smooth transaction.

How much does it cost?
Because we do not have to travel to your site (i.e., save gas) our remote services are much less than traditional computer support options! By connecting and interacting with you directly through the Internet, we can complete the work in much less time and for a lot less money. Our on-site visits can range up to $125/hr. By saving on travel or you having to take your PC to a store you save time and money.

At iBYTE Technologies we have set prices for services we provide. If your issue is not covered by any of the packages provided we charge $75 for 60 minutes, or a discounted $200 for 180 minutes of remote support. We encourage you to purchase a full hour or more to take advantage of our discounted rates when you schedule support, or consider an annual subscription plan.

Can you get back into my computer after my session is over?
No, not until you contact us again and request service. When you contact iBYTE Technologies and purchase a remote session you will be prompted to download a temporary desktop sharing application that allows us to view and interact with your computer. Once your session has been completed the application and accompanying tools are automatically deleted from your PC.

Is it secure?
Yes. When you log in to our secure remote connection you are initiating a 128-bit encrypted connection between your computer and our network. In other words, you have established a unique one-to-one session that no one else can view or access during the session. That ensures your security and privacy.

You are the one in control of any session. You are the one who initiates a session and you can end it at any time by simply closing the support window on your desktop. Further still, you are always in control of your mouse (cursor). During your session you will see the technician using your cursor to locate and fix problems. At any time you can over-ride mouse control by simply moving your mouse.

Why is remote computer support better than more traditional support options?
With traditional computer support you normally call your computer manufacturer and wait on hold, take your computer to a local repair shop and wait for days for your PC to be repaired or wait for a technician to visit your home (all costly options). Remote computer support allows us to interact directly with your computer freeing you from having to perform the repair while on the phone with someone in another country.

Most users don't have time to figure out what's wrong with a PC or network, and prefer to have an experienced technician look at their PC. So, remote computer support is less expensive, easier to use and much more convenient than traditional computer support or repair services.

Is it easy to use?
Yes! When you allow our remote technicians to access your computer we are able to fix your computer directly. This gives you freedom to simply sit back and watch or even work on something else while we fix your PC. Remote computer support is simple, convenient and less expensive than those other options.. Simply go to ibytetech.com, start a chat session, purchase your package then let go of the mouse and let us fix your PC!

Do you charge to diagnose my computer?
Yes. However, the better you can describe your problems the less time it will take to diagnose your computer and begin fixing problems. If you are receiving any error messages please write them down so you can remember them word for word.

In some cases your problems may be difficult to diagnose or can not be located. At iBYTE Technologies, we will do everything we can to identify and resolve your computer issues. If we are unable to resolve them we will attempt to at the very least, provide suggestions and next steps on resolving any problems. For computers that are over 5 years old, or running Windows ME or older, we suggest you consider purchasing a new computer before spending a lot of money attempting to repair an older one.

Is your work guaranteed?
Our computer services are guaranteed for five (5) days. If there is a problem with any service we provide, customers must notify us within five days and we will work to remedy any issues quickly and professionally. At iBYTE Technologies, our customer's satisfaction is very important to us. If a customer is not completely satisfied with the service they received from iBYTE Technologies, we will work with them to ensure their satisfaction.

Are your technicians qualified to work on my computer?
At iBYTE Technologies every technician has over 5 years experience in a help desk and desktop support environment.

Can you send a technician to my home/office for support?
At this time we can only provide home/office support in Tampa Bay and surrounding areas. There is a $30 service fee for any calls within 25 miles of our location while calls to 50 miles are charged at $50. Our on-site computer support fees are billed at $125/hr for the first hour and $60 for each additional 30 minutes.

Do you support Apple Macintosh?
We currently do NOT support Apple Macintosh products. This is a service that will be supported in the future.

Can you support older computers?
Due to emerging technologies older PCs cannot handle newer programs in the most efficient manner. While we will attempt to repair issues with older PCs, you must have at least the following: Windows 98 operating system and a PC that is a no older than 5 years.

Because these machines typically have slower processors your session will most likely be more expensive due to circumstances beyond our control. If you have a computer that is over 5 years old we suggest purchasing a new one. If you need assistance in purchasing one, please contact us by phone or send an email to info@ibytetech.com.

Can you provide remote support through a dial-up connection?
Yes. However, customers with these connections: dial-up, mobile wireless or satellite Internet connection will generally experience much longer support sessions due to limited speeds.

In addition, older PCs (over 4 yrs) running Windows 98 or Windows ME are less stable and can be more difficult to support through a slower connection. We recommend you talk to us before purchasing any service. If you are in the Tampa Bay area you may want to consider an on-site appointment.
